Blemishes always seem to pop up at the worst time, don’t they?!?! Right when you have a party, date or wedding to go to, they seem to rear their ugly heads. What can you do to get rid of them fast?
I used to buy pimple patches for my kids, and they did a decent job. But I was getting sick of how expensive they were. Just being able to target 1 blemish with each patch, seemed like a complete waste. And my teenagers would go through a package in no time.
So I researched some natural remedies and came up with this natural spot treatment for pimples. Although, I first came up with this recipe for my teenagers, even in my forties it’s something I need to use at times as well.
With all the essential oils for acne that have antibacterial properties in them, I knew there must be a roller bottle I could whip together in minutes, that would work even better. And this DIY acne roller bottle is just that. And costs pennies to make.
Now, I will warn you, it includes Neem oil. If you’ve never used it before, it has a very strong odor. Some people say it smells like garlic, I’m not sure if that’s the smell but I do know it’s not good. That said, it’s been used for centuries to treat acne. And there’s a reason for that, it works amazingly on it!
Neem oil, combined with a couple of essential oils, makes the best non-toxic acne remedy. And you will eventually get used to the smell, my teenager daughter uses this oil all the time and it doesn’t bother her at all. I just recommend putting it on in the evening while you are at home. And by the time you leave the house again in the morning, the smell will be completely gone.
So, how do you make this pimple-drying roller you ask? Well, it’s super simple. It’s only 4 simple ingredients, added to a 10ml roller bottle, and mixed together. It only costs a few cents to make a bottle, and it will last for a months, depending on how often you need to use it.
We’ll learn a little more about the ingredients you’ll need below.
How to Make It Feel Like a Store Brand
Sometimes the hardest sell to your kids, is that it’s HOMEMADE. Not that it doesn’t work, but it’s just not the same of what they can buy at the store.
So, a great trick with this oil is to make it into DIY pimple patches! All you need to do is buy some tiny round bandages, mix of your essential oil blend to dry pimples, and put a few drops of it onto the bandage. Then put the bandage over the pimple like you normally would.

All You Need to Have
This recipe has just 4 simple ingredients. You can switch up the carrier oil to any you have on hand if you wish, but if possible I do strongly recommend using the Joboba oil since it’s such a light oil that won’t clog pores like some heavier oils may. Let’s go through all the ingredients you will need to make this DIY essential oil spot treatment for acne.
Neem Oil
Neem oil is a powerhouse for any DIY essential oil spot treatment for acne. Packed with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory compounds, it helps fight the bacteria that cause pimples while soothing redness and irritation. Its natural fatty acids also support skin healing, making it ideal for stubborn breakouts or inflamed spots that need extra care.
Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea tree oil is the star of any natural blemish roller recipe because it’s one of the most researched essential oils for acne. With strong antibacterial and drying properties (why it works great to get rid of warts as well!), it penetrates clogged pores to fight acne-causing bacteria and reduce swelling. It works quickly to shrink pimples and is a trusted natural alternative to harsh chemical spot treatments.
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
Ylang ylang brings balance to this essential oil blend to dry pimples by regulating oil production. Overproduction of sebum is a key cause of breakouts, and this oil helps restore harmony to the skin. It also has natural antiseptic properties that support a clear complexion while providing a gentle, calming scent to the roller blend.
Jojoba Oil
As the base of your non toxic acne spot roller, jojoba oil is a perfect carrier oil because it closely mimics the skin’s natural sebum. This helps dissolve excess oil in clogged pores while delivering hydration without greasiness. It also acts as a soothing layer, ensuring the powerful essential oils are diluted safely and absorbed effectively into the skin.
Blended Together
When combined, these ingredients create a homemade essential oil acne remedy that is safe, effective, and beginner-friendly. Each oil brings its own acne-fighting benefit — antibacterial defense, oil-balancing, pore-clearing, and skin-soothing — making this roller bottle a natural and reliable alternative to chemical products and of course ……. pimple patches.

minutesEquipment:
– 10ml Amber Glass Roller Bottle
– Round Bandages (Optional to make pimple patches)
Ingredients
4 Drops Neem Oil
4 Drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
3 Drops Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
8 ml Jojoba Oil (Carrier)
Directions
- Liquefy neem oil by running the bottle under warm water for a few minutes.
- Using a dropper, add neem oil and essential oils to a 10ml Amber Glass Roller Bottle.
- Fill the rest of the bottle with the jojoba oil (or any other carrier oil)
- Put on lid and shake well.
Notes
- Neem oil natural becomes semi-solid at room temperature. This is normal, it’s not a pure liquid oil. Running it under warm water beforehand will make it easier to put in the bottle with a dropper.
- Apply oil daily, or as needed, until blemish is gone. I suggest applying at night and washing it off in the morning.
- If making DIY pimple patches, simply use a dropper to apply some of the acne oil blend to a bandage and put over top of the blemish.
- Make sure you label your bottle! You will not remember what is in it. I LOVE my Niimbot B1 label maker and printer for this (Buy in CAN or USA). Its comes with a free and easy to use app where you can design your labels just the way you want. It quickly and seamlessly prints high quality, and waterproof labels. I haven’t found any easier way to keep my DIY products organized and identified, then this label printer. You will love it for everything in your home!
